複数の音楽/スピーカーを使った空間デザイン。
医学博士の亀谷了が1953年に創設した寄生虫学専門の私立博物館「目黒寄生虫館」の音楽。

音楽のコンセプトは「寄生音楽」「寄生虫展示の美しさ」「人間と寄生虫」。

寄生虫館の各階の展示テーマや寄生虫の標本、寄生虫の生態などから着想を得て、6曲を制作。

 

標本の背景に使われている青色や展示してある寄生虫をテーマにした楽曲、人体や寄生虫のライフサイクルをテーマにした楽曲などを使って、この場所ならではの音楽体験を目指した。天井スピーカーや、展示ケース・パネル内に仕込んだ小型スピーカーなど、館内の様々な場所から流れる6種類の楽曲がズレ続けながらも調和し合い、空間で混ざり合うことで、グラデーションのような有機的な空間を音楽で形作る。

＜#1 / 1F 天井スピーカー＞
ピアノ、マリンバ、シロフォン、エレクトリックシタール、バイオリン、パーカッションなどを使用。「標本背景の青色」をテーマに、液浸標本の時が止まっているような美しさや浮遊感、青色の深淵で静謐な雰囲気を音楽で表現。音同士のぶつかりやキャッチーなフレーズを遠近感をつけながら織り交ぜ、適度な緊張感と親しみやすい雰囲気の両立を目指した楽曲。

​＜#2 / 2F 天井スピーカー＞
エレクトリックピアノ、シンセサイザー、パーカッション、ウクレレ、ギロ、バイオリンなどを使用。人体（生命の体内）をイメージした、常に動きのあるパーカッションやウクレレのフレーズ、電子音、シンセサイザーの即興などを使用し、細胞になって体内を動いているような神秘的な楽曲を目指した。

アコースティックギター、エレクトリックギター、シンセサイザー、パーカッションなどを使用。「寄生虫の多様性」をテーマに、23種類の分類グループを23種類の音色の組み合わせで表現した楽曲。

​＜#4 / 展示ケース内＞
シンセベース、ブルーノイズを使用。「シーラカンスの単生虫」をテーマに、エラに寄生していた吸虫の生命感や深海の雰囲気を、律動的な低音のフェードイン/アウトで表現した楽曲。

＜#5 / 展示ケース下＞
ハープ、エレクトリックピアノ、タンバリンを使用。「フタゴムシ」をテーマに、変調させた音色や舞うような断片的フレーズで、羽を広げた蝶のような雌雄同体のユニークな形や動きを表現。ゆらゆらとした、少し不思議な雰囲気の楽曲。

​＜#6 / 展示パネル内、コンセントボックス内＞
シンセサイザー、スティールパン、タブラを使用。「寄生虫のライフサイクル」をテーマに、寄生虫が成長しながら宿主を移動するように、短いフレーズが4台の小型スピーカー間を移動していく楽曲。フレーズは1周するごとに少しづつ変化していく。

Spatial design using multiple music/speakers.

Music for "Meguro Parasitological Museum" that is a private research facility specializing in parasites founded in 1953 by a medical doctor, Satoru Kamegai.

The music concepts are "Parasitic Music", "Beauty of Parasites" and "Humans and Parasites". We composed the six pieces of music by inspiration from the exhibition themes, parasite specimens, and ecological characteristics of parasites on each floor of the Parasite Museum.

 

We aimed to create a unique musical experience for this space, using the six songs themed around "Blue color used as the background for the specimen", "Displayed parasites", and "Human body" and "Life cycle of parasites", etc. The six different songs flowing from various locations within the museum continue to shift while harmonizing with one another, blending together in the space to form an organic, gradient-like environment through music.​

<#1 / 1F Ceiling Speaker>

The instruments are piano, marimba, xylophone, electric sitar, violin, percussion, etc. The theme is a "Blue Background of Specimens". Music express the beauty and floating sensation of liquid-immersed specimens as if time has stopped, and a tranquil atmosphere in the depths of blue. The song aims to balance a moderate sense of tension with a friendly atmosphere by interweaving the collision of sounds and catchy phrases.

<#2 / 2F Ceiling Speaker>

The instruments are electric piano, synthesizer, percussion, ukulele, guiro, violin, etc. The theme is a "Human Body (Inside of a Living Organism)". Music is a mysterious piece of music that feels like cells moving inside the body, using constantly moving percussion and ukulele phrases, electronic sounds, and synthesizer improvisations.

<#3 / Above the locker>

The instruments are acoustic guitar, electric guitar, synthesizer, percussion, etc. The theme is a "Diversity of Parasites". Music express 23 taxonomic groups through a combination of 23 different tones.

<#4 / Inside the display case>

The instruments are synth bass and blue noise. The theme is a "Monogenea of the Coelacanth". Music expresses the vitality of the flukes that parasitized the gills and the atmosphere of the deep sea with rhythmic low-frequency fade-ins and fade-outs.

<#5 / Below the display case>

The instruments are harp, electric piano, tambourine. The theme is a "Diplozoon Paradoxum". Modulated tones and dancing, fragmentary phrases express the unique shape and movements of this hermaphroditic creature, which resembles a butterfly with its wings spread. The music has a slightly mysterious, swaying atmosphere.

<#6 / Within the display panel and power outlet box>

The instruments are synthesizer, steel pan, tabla. The theme is a "Life Cycle of Parasites". Music moves short phrases between four small speakers like parasites move from host to host as they grow. The phrases change slightly with each cycle.
