音楽を使った空間デザイン。ワークショップ。

音楽・植栽・人感センサーを組み合わせた、ランドスケープデザイナー「WOODSMART」、デザインスタジオ「penotea studio」との取り組み「Music Plants」。今回は、Foodscaping事業者「Green Neighbors」が手がけているサッポロ広場のFoodscapeに音楽デザインを取り入れた、ミュージック x 植物のインタラクティブ展示と音あつめワークショップを、恵比寿ガーデンプレイス内のサッポロ広場にて開催した。

 

ベースとなる数曲に加えて、各所に設置した人感センサーに近づくと、植物をイメージした楽曲が再生される仕組み。ミニワークショップでは、サッポロ広場の植物の葉っぱをさすったり、触ったりする音をレコーディング。参加者があつめた音はその場で編集し、中央に吊るした小型スピーカーから再生され、サッポロ広場の音楽と混じり合い調和していく。

ハンディレコーダーで集音される高解像度の音を聞きながら音あつめすることで、植物に触れることを促し、音という観点からもFoodscapeを捉えられるような音楽体験を目指した。

＜#1 / 中央A＞

アコースティックギター、マリンバ、シンセサイザー、クラリネット、スティールパン、パーカッションを使用。フードスケーピングのガーデンから着想し、イチジク・ザクロ・ブルーベリーなどのフルーティな香りや、色彩などをスティールパンやシンセサイザーなどのフレーズを用いて作曲した、トロピカルな雰囲気の楽曲。シンセサイザーで鳥の鳴き声を電子的に模したり、バイオリンやハープ、チェロのフレーズで神秘的な雰囲気を目指した。

エレクトリックギター、ピアノ、シンセベース、デジタルターンテーブル、パーカッションなどを使用。土壌中のミミズやダンゴムシなどの生き物や、活き活きとした植物のエネルギーを音楽で表現。楽しげな雰囲気の楽曲。

＜#3 / ガーデンA＞

バイオリン、パーカッション、グロッケンシュピール、エレクトリックギター、マリンバを使用。レモングラスやローズマリーなどのスパイスやハーブをイメージした、少し落ち着きや、動き、香りが漂ってくるような楽曲。

＜#4 / ガーデンB＞

アコースティックギター、シンセサイザー、バイオリン、パーカッションなどを使用。多種多様な音色を織り交ぜて、豊かな植栽を音楽で表現。伸びやかな雰囲気の楽曲。

​​＜#5 / 触る・香る＞

スティールパン、エレクトリックギターを使用。温州みかんの柑橘系の香り、酸味、苦味をエフェクトをかけたスティールパンのトレモロとギターのフレーズで表現。人感センサースピーカーにより、植栽に触れると楽曲が流れる。

＜#6 / くぐる＞

アコースティックギター、ホイッスル、シンセサイザーを使用。風で木々が揺れる様子や、植物に集まる鳥や虫を音楽で表現。人感センサースピーカーにより、植栽の下をくぐり抜けると38種類の短い楽曲がランダムに流れる。

＜#7 / 座る＞

マリンバ、バイオリン、クラリネット、スティールパン、サックスを使用。座った人に周りの木々がゆるやかに反応していくような様子を音楽で表現。人感センサースピーカーにより、ベンチに腰掛けると28種類の短い楽曲が流れてくる。

Spatial design using music. Workshop.

"Music Plants" an initiative with landscape designer "WOODSMART" and design studio "penotea studio" that combines music, planting, and human sensors. This time, an interactive exhibition of music x plants and a sound-gathering workshop were held at Sapporo Plaza in Yebisu Garden Place, incorporating music design into the Sapporo Plaza Foodscape, which is being worked on by the foodscaping business "Green Neighbors".

 

In addition to several base songs, plant-inspired music was played when visitors approached motion sensors installed at various locations. In the mini-workshop, participants recorded the sound of rubbing and touching the leaves of the plants in the Sapporo Plaza. The sounds collected by the participants are edited on the spot and played back from a small speaker suspended in the center, mixing and harmonizing with the music in the Sapporo Plaza.

​The goal was to create a musical experience that encourages people to touch the plants by listening to the high-resolution sounds collected by the handheld recorder, and to capture Foodscape from the perspective of sound as well.

<#1 / Center A>

The instruments are acoustic guitar, marimba, synthesizer, clarinet, steelpan, and percussion. Inspired by a foodscaping garden, this tropical-inspired piece was composed using steelpan, synthesizer, and other phrases to capture the fruity scents of figs, pomegranates, blueberries, and other colors. The synthesizer was used to electronically imitate the sound of birdsong, and violin, harp, and cello phrases were used to achieve a mystical atmosphere.

<#2/ Center B>

The instruments are electric guitar, piano, synth bass, digital turntable, and percussion. The music expresses the energy of worms, dung beetles, and other creatures in the soil, as well as lively plants. The music has a joyful atmosphere.

<#3/ Garden A>

The instruments are violin, percussion, glockenspiel, electric guitar, and marimba. The music is inspired by spices and herbs such as lemongrass and rosemary, with a bit of calmness, movement, and fragrance wafting through the air.

<#4 / Garden B>

The instruments are acoustic guitar, synthesizer, violin, and percussion. A wide variety of tones are woven together to express the richness of the plantings in music. The music has a relaxed atmosphere.

<#5 / Touching and Being Fragrant>

The instruments are steel pan and electric guitar. We expressed the citrus aroma, acidity, and bitterness of Satsuma Mandarins using steel pan tremolo with effects and guitar phrases. When you touch or smell the plants, human sensor speaker plays music.

<#6 / Walking Through>

The instruments are acoustic guitar, whistle, and synthesizer. We expressed the swaying of trees in the wind and birds and insects attracted to the plants with music. When you walk through the plants, human sensor speaker plays music 38 different short songs at random.

<#7 / Sitting on>

The instruments are marimba, violin, clarinet, steel pan, saxophone. We expressed the gentle response of the surrounding trees to the person sitting on the bench with the music. When you sit on the bench, human sensor speaker plays music 28 different short songs at random.
