複数の音楽/スピーカーを使った空間デザイン。

沖縄県本部町にある、オリオンビールが手がけるリゾートホテル「The Orion Hotel Motobu Resort & Spa」の1F レストラン「The Orion Brasserie & Table」の音楽。

 

音楽の全体コンセプトは「Emerald Beach」「やんばる」「沖縄の光と風」。

ホテルの目の前に広がるエメラルドビーチ、やんばるの原生林、沖縄北部の自然や時間の移ろいから着想。

 

朝・昼・夜で緩やかに音楽の質感や空気感が変化していき、館内全体でひとつの有機的な音楽体験を形作る。透明感や開放感、自然の生命力、非日常感を感じられるような、リゾート空間に寄り添う音楽を目指した。

 

また、館内全体の音楽「Songs for The Orion Hotel Motobu Resort & Spa」、3F ショップの音楽「Songs for The Store & Journey」との調性を合わせることで、ホテルの各エリアのそれぞれの楽曲はズレ続けながらも調和し合い、様々な要素が交差し合うような音楽体験を作った。

《ダイニングエリア》

ガットギター、ピアノ、マリンバ、エレクトリックギター、三線、三板、指笛、パーカッションなどを使用。琉球音楽の要素を、現代的な音色や和声と交えながら再解釈し表現。リゾートの非日常を感じさせる、ゆったりとした浮遊感のある楽曲。

 

#16 / 昼

アコースティックギター、クラリネット、ベース、シロフォン、ピアノ、マリンバ、パーカッションなどを使用。木由来の楽器を中心に、多様な音色を複層的に重ねることで、森や海の中にいるような開放感を表現。大きなグルーヴに包まれるような、透明感のある楽曲。

#17 / 夜

エレクトリックギター、ピアノ、トランペット、ベース、ドラム、パーカッション、ハープなどを使用。8種類の異なるジャンル（ボサノヴァ、ジャズ、タンゴ、ボサノヴァ、サーフ、チャチャチャ、AOR、フュージョン）が入れ替わり現れては消えていくような、琉球の雰囲気にダンスミュージックをチャンプルーした、躍動感と煌びやかさのある楽曲。

《ラウンジエリア》

ピアノ、エレクトリックピアノ、アコースティックギター、クラリネット、レインスティック、パーカッションなどを使用。今帰仁城の緩やかな風や本部の木々の濃いグリーンや呼吸を音楽で表現。呼吸を繰り返して自然と繋がるような、リラックスする楽曲。

アコースティックギター、ベース、ドラム、パーカッション、エレクトリックギターなどを使用。ボサノヴァのリズムを取り入れつつ、ハープや弦楽器の神秘的な旋律も取り入れた、エキゾチックで大人な雰囲気の楽曲。

#20 / 夜

ヴィブラフォン、エレクトリックギター、スティールパン、クラリネット、エレクトリックシタール、バイオリン、テナーサックス、ピアノなどを使用。ラグジュアリーな雰囲気を感じられる楽曲。

 

《テラス》

​

#21 / 日中

スティールパン、バイオリン、アコースティックギター、マリンバ、クラリネットなどを使用。周囲で鳴いている鳥に呼応するように、様々な音色が代わるがわる聴こえてくる。海風と一緒に感じられるような、軽やかな楽曲。

#22 / 日没

エレクトリックピアノ、アコースティックギター、スティールパン、パーカッションなどを使用。リゾートの夜の余韻のようなフュージョン風の音色を中心に、トロピカルなリズムや波の音を連想させるウォータードラムを加えた、ムーディーで落ち着いた雰囲気の楽曲。

三線を使用。間合いや音色で琉球の雰囲気を出しつつ、アンプやエフェクターで加工し、現代的に感じられるように構築。ゆったりとした、異国情緒ある、有機的な楽曲。

 

#24 / 日没

スティールパン、パーカッションを使用。レストランの楽曲に合わせてバンドがセッションするようなパーカッションのリズムや即興演奏を取り入れた。夜の色とりどりの光の煌めきを表現した楽曲。

 

#25 / 日中

スティールパンを使用。沖縄の海を感じられるような音色。入口から水の波紋が段々と広がっていくような、爽やかで瑞々しい楽曲。

マンドリン、アコーディオン、パーカッションを使用。異国情緒溢れる、哀愁漂う雰囲気のある楽曲。

パーカッションを使用。複数の打楽器による即興演奏。空気の流れのような、余白ある、アクセント的な楽曲。

トランペット、チューバ、パーカッションを使用。汽笛を思わせる金管の連なりで、船上パーティーをしているような楽しげな雰囲気の楽曲。

マンドリンを使用 。倍音豊かで煌びやかな弦の即興演奏。海風が通り抜けていくような、非日常を感じられる楽曲。

マリンバ、キーボード、シンセサイザー、ウォータードラムなどを使用。浅瀬の珊瑚をイメージした、コロコロとしたマリンバの音色を主体とした、優しい雰囲気の楽曲。

#31 / 日中

チューバを使用。深い海の残響のような、深淵な雰囲気。ザトウクジラの鳴き声にも聴こえる、伸びやかな楽曲。

クラシックギター、パーカッション、シンセサイザーなどを使用。様々な抽象的なフレーズを織り交ぜつつ、多様なパーカッションを重ねた躍動感とエネルギーに溢れた楽曲。

アコースティックギター、シンセサイザー、スティールパン、マリンバなどを使用。演奏がゆっくりと移り変わる構成で、備瀬のフクギ並木の地層や自然のグラデーションを表現した楽曲。

エレクトリックベース、アコースティックギター、チェロ、フルート、エレクトリックピアノ、ピアノ、ハープシコードなどを使用。様々な音色の断片が浮遊して点在しているようなイメージを音楽で表現。即興的なフレーズを組み合わせた、抽象的な色彩が広がるような楽曲。

Spatial design using multiple music/speakers.

Music for "The Orion Brasserie & Table", the first-floor restaurant at "The Orion Hotel Motobu Resort and Spa", a resort hotel developed by Orion Breweries in Motobu, Okinawa.

 

The overall music concept is "Emerald Beach", "Yanbaru" and "The Light and Wind of Okinawa".
Inspired by Emerald Beach stretching out in front of the hotel, the subtropical forests of Yanbaru, and the changing nature and rhythms of time in northern Okinawa.

​

The texture and atmosphere of the music gradually transform from morning to daytime and night, forming a single organic musical experience throughout the hotel. The project aimed to create a resort-oriented soundscape that conveys transparency, openness, vitality, and a sense of escape from everyday life.

​

We also aligned the tonalities of the compositions with those of "Songs for The Orion Hotel Motobu Resort & Spa", the music for the entire hotel, and "Songs for The Store & Journey", the music for the third-floor shop. As a result, the compositions throughout the hotel remain in harmony even as they continuously drift out of sync with one another, creating a musical experience in which diverse elements intersect and coexist organically.

​​«Dining Area»

​

#15 / Morning

The instruments are gut guitar, piano, marimba, electric guitar, sanshin, sansa, finger whistle, and percussion. The music reinterprets elements of Ryukyuan music by blending them with contemporary timbres and harmonies. It creates a relaxed, floating atmosphere that evokes the resort’s sense of otherworldliness and escape from everyday life.

 

#16 / Daytime

The instruments are acoustic guitar, clarinet, bass, xylophone, piano, marimba, and percussion. The music centers on wooden and organic timbres, layered to create a sense of openness as if immersed in forests and the sea. It forms a transparent composition wrapped in a large, flowing groove.

 

#17 / Night

The instruments are electric guitar, piano, trumpet, bass, drums, percussion, and harp. The music blends fragments of eight different genres (bossa nova, jazz, tango, surf, cha-cha-cha, AOR, and fusion), which appear and disappear in rotation. It is a Ryukyu-infused chample-style dance music piece, creating a vibrant and sparkling atmosphere filled with energy.

#18 / Morning

The instruments are piano, electric piano, acoustic guitar, clarinet, rain stick, and percussion. The music expresses the gentle wind of Nakijin Castle and the deep green presence and breathing of Motobu’s trees. It is a relaxing composition that evokes the sensation of reconnecting with nature through repeated breaths.

#19 / Daytime

The instruments are acoustic guitar, bass, drums, percussion, and electric guitar. The music incorporates bossa nova rhythms along with mystical harp and string melodies, creating an exotic and sophisticated atmosphere.

 

#20 / Night

The instruments are vibraphone, electric guitar, steelpan, clarinet, electric sitar, violin, tenor saxophone, and piano. The music creates a luxurious and exotic atmosphere through layered instrumental textures.

«Terrace»

#21 / Daytime

The instruments are steelpan, violin, acoustic guitar, marimba, and clarinet. The music features various timbres that appear one after another, as if responding to the surrounding birdsong. It creates a light and refreshing atmosphere that feels carried together with the sea breeze.

 

#22 / Sunset

The instruments are electric piano, acoustic guitar, steelpan, and percussion. The music centers on fusion-inspired textures reminiscent of the lingering atmosphere of a resort night, combined with tropical rhythms and water drum sounds that evoke ocean waves. It creates a moody and calm atmosphere.

#23 / Daytime

The instruments are sanshin. The music expresses a Ryukyuan atmosphere through spacing and tone, while being processed with amplifiers and effects to create a contemporary texture. It is a slow, organic, and exotic composition.

 

#24 / Sunset

The instruments are steelpan and percussion. The music incorporates improvised percussion rhythms and session-like interplay, as if a band were performing alongside the restaurant soundtrack. It expresses the shimmering colors of nighttime lights.

 

#25 / Daytime

The instruments are steelpan. The music features tones that evoke the Okinawan sea, creating a fresh and transparent atmosphere like ripples of water gradually spreading outward from the entrance.

 

#26 / Sunset

The instruments are mandolin, accordion, and percussion. The music creates an exotic and slightly melancholic atmosphere.

 

#27 / Daytime

The instruments are percussion. The music consists of improvisations using multiple percussion instruments, creating an airy and spacious composition that functions as a subtle accent within the environment.

 

#28 / Sunset

The instruments are trumpet, tuba, and percussion.
The music features layered brass phrases reminiscent of ship horns, creating a festive atmosphere like a party taking place onboard a ship.

#29 / Daytime

The instruments are mandolin. The music features shimmering improvisations rich in overtones, creating an otherworldly atmosphere like sea breeze passing through the space.

​

#30 / Sunset

The instruments are marimba, keyboard, synthesizer, and water drum. The music centers on rolling marimba tones inspired by shallow coral reefs, creating a gentle and calming atmosphere.

#31 / Daytime

The instruments are tuba. The music creates a deep atmosphere reminiscent of ocean reverberation, with long tones that can also be heard like the calls of humpback whales.

#32 / Sunset

The instruments are classical guitar, percussion, and synthesizer. The music layers various abstract phrases with diverse percussion textures, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere.

#33 / Daytime

The instruments are acoustic guitar, synthesizer, steelpan, and marimba. The music gradually shifts its instrumental layers, expressing the natural gradations and layered scenery of the Fukugi tree-lined streets of Bise.

The instruments are electric bass, acoustic guitar, cello, flute, electric piano, piano, and harpsichord. The music expresses the image of floating fragments of timbre dispersed throughout space. Improvised phrases are layered together to create a composition filled with abstract colors and atmosphere.
